Belton (February 13, 2012) -- University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s basketball player Brittany Zamora has been named American Southwest Conference Co-West Division Player of the Week for the week ending February 12th.
Zamora, a senior guard from Vista Ridge High School in Cedar Park, averaged 18.0 points and 7.5 assists per game for the Cru over two games. She had 21 points and added nine assists in UMHB’s 83-79 victory over Hardin-Simmons and followed with a 15-point performance against McMurry University. Zamora also grabbed four rebounds and had three steals. She shares this week’s honor with Concordia Texas senior guard Lashanda Luckey.
The UMHB women are currently 5-18 overall and have a 4-15 record in ASC play this season. The Cru will host Schreiner University for a 5:30 PM tip-off on Thursday before closing out the season with a 1:00 PM start at Texas Lutheran University on Saturday.
University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s basketball player Kitrick Bell has been named American Southwest Conference West Division Player of the Week for the week ending February 12th.
Bell, a sophomore forward from Fort Bend Marshall High School, averaged 19.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in leading the Cru to a pair of crucial ASC West Division victories last week. He opened the week with 15 points in UMHB’s 89-80 victory over Hardin-Simmons and followed with a career-high 23-point in a 90-87 win against McMurry University. Bell grabbed two clutch rebounds and hit four straight free throws in the final seconds to clinch that win.
The UMHB men are currently 22-1 overall and have an 18-1 record in ASC play this season. The Cru will host Schreiner University for a 7:30 PM tip-off on Thursday before closing out the regular season with a 3:00 PM start at Texas Lutheran University on Saturday. The UMHB men will then play host to the ASC Championship Tournament for the third time in the last five years when the Mayborn Campus Center welcomes that event February 24-26.
