Each week in Sports Friday, we rank the ten best teams in Central Texas regardless of class. It's our attempt at ranking the best schools pound for pound. That means in this poll, a six man team is on equal footing with the biggest 5A teams. Here is this week's Power Ten:

1. Copperas Cove
2. China Spring
3. Bremond
4. La Vega
5. Rosebud-Lott
6. Abbott
7. Itasca
8. Academy
9. Midway
10. McGregor

What do you think of this week's Power Ten? Let us know with your comments.

Academy Bumblebees are doing well this year. Marquee Matchup for Oct 24th. Academy Vs Salado. That will be the biggest and best game of the year in ALL of Central Texas High School Football. Salado is tough and will give you everything they've got, but I have to put the edge towards Academy as they march right into the playoffs.

Academy is having a good year. But, Salado will dominate this district and should be in the Power 10.

I think that Mexia is pretty good this year. Some of the teams on the power teams are not as good as them.

you think academy is tough, wait till they meet the eagles at salado

Posted by: Go Bees Location: Academy on Oct 8, 2008 at 02:13 PM
Go Bees! this is going to be a good year for the Bees, we are going to go all the way to the playoffs. They are going to have a tough game Friday against Lago Vista, but they will win and then hopefully we will see them move up in the power rankings. It has been a long time since Academy has went to the playoffs in football and this is their year, they have a real talented group of atheletes this year and are proving just that.

Troy Trojans "shocked" Crawford. Between Temple ans Waco only one person thought Troy would win. And boy did they! 49 to 28! Go Trojans!

Who have ITASCA played nobody, until they play somebody with A winning record they should not be on there come on guys HOLLAND,RICE,DALLAS GATEWAY,MERIDAN,AXELL, and have you seen there district there not going to get tested until they play ITALY and then people wonder why teams get out of the play off so fast. This team has not played nobody with a winning record so just wait until they do.I am not saying that they are not good for all I know they migth win state no I just playing about that last part but until they play somebody with a winning record they should not be on the power10 cause anybody could have a schedule like that and be unbeatin

I think Rosebud-Lott needs a little more recognition for what they have accomplished. These boys are playing some ball. I know they have been on rivals for the last few years, but these guys are pulling it together, when they were expected to be nothing.
