EL PASO (November 17, 2009)--A 7-year-old boy who attended school in El Paso was slain in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, in a shooting that also left his father dead.

Officials at El Paso’s Glen Cove Elementary School confirmed that third-grader Raul Xazziel Ramirez-Ramirez was killed.

Counselors were on hand to help students and staff and a letter about the killing was sent home to parents on Monday.

Ysleta Independent School District spokeswoman Patricia Ayala said the boy, who was gunned down Friday night, lived with his aunt and uncle in El Paso, across the border from Juarez.

Chihuahua state police believe the child was with his father, Raul Ramirez Alvarado, 35, whose body was found in a vehicle.

Dear KWTX, Do you realize the amount of hateful opinions this site gets a on a daily basis? I understand viewers have the right to leave their opinions but most of them heartful and irrelevant. A family is mourning yet people are quick to be hateful ---> "Pitiful Parents"????? Wow really "Texas". What people write here is a reflection of what kind of viewers you attract. I love KWTX, but when I read ugly comments like the ones below me I just rather not visit this site. Please make a change soon.

I first of all resent the person who speaks about immigrants who first came to this land from Europe. You have got a musunderstanding and you need to study the history books. Doesn't matter about then, it matters about now. There is a huge problem in the US and in Texas with illegal immigration. This is a tragic story about a small child and it is heartbreaking. The law permits citizenship but to do it legally. That is what the problem is. We don't know who the illeglas are mixed up with here in the US

Keri, If you are such a bleeding heart for anyone here taking from our system then why don't you move across the border and pay for them yourself. Better yet move them in with you and feed them and clothe them and have their medical bills sent to your house so that the rest of us TEXANS don't have to work to pay the bills for illegal citizens from any country. You miss the whole point here with your comments. Yes it is sad that anyone dies at the hands of a thug or any other way but it is also very unfair to take on the whole country when there are plenty of legal ways to get over here and be an AMERICAN. People amaze me, they totally forget how America was founded and everyone takes on the BAMA socialist thinking and wants everyone who follows the rules and works their butts off to pay for those who decide not to. It's not my fault that anyone anywhere decides to have 10 kids and cannot support one. If you can't abide by the rules, get out of America. Same for you OBAMA!
