SAN ANTONIO (November 17, 2009)--Human remains that were found in San Antonio have been identified as those of a former Iowa man who was reported missing more than two years ago.

Boys playing in a wooded area found the remains Friday.

On Monday, the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office identified the remains as those of Richard Ashbacher, a former Air Force Academy student who grew up in Davenport, Iowa.

He was 25 when his mother reported him missing in May 2007, a couple months after moving to San Antonio from Iowa.

The medical examiner's office says the cause of death remains under investigation.

Ashbacher was reported missing after failing to show up for his job as a restaurant waiter.
