Activists Protest Texas Coal Plant Construction
Activists rallied Thursday in Dallas to protest the construction of coal-fired power plants in Texas.

DALLAS (November 19, 2009)--Representatives of environmental, religious and medical groups say they delivered more than 2,000 comments to the Environmental Protection Agency's Dallas office on Thursday, calling for a halt to coal-fired plant construction in Texas.
With 17 coal-fired power plants and another 12 are planned, Texas has more than any other state. The Sierra Club and other groups asked the EPA to review the permits of the existing plants and halt construction on the others.
The groups have long opposed the plants, which are among the top polluters in Texas.
The protest comes in the same week that the EPA proposed new rules limiting sulfur dioxide emissions.

Wonder where they think they will be able to get electricity Bet they will scream if they can't plug in their electric cars.

They are halting much needed expansion! A wind turbine only shoots out about 9 mega watts where a coal unit (which there is usually 2 at a plant)shoot out 900 mega watts per unit, so on average 1800 megawatts a plant...now do the math. The wind turbines will never be able to produce the amount of electricity as a coal power plant. Not to mention, like somone said before, it is all steam coming out of the stacks. I'm almost positive if they asked nicely, they could get a video showing how the plant works, maybe then they could understant, but that would be to much to ask of them.
