HOUSTON (February 5, 2010)—After a chase in Houston, Harris County sheriff’s deputies shot and killed a man suspected in a shooting that left two people dead and two others injured.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office said the motive for the quadruple shootings is under investigation.
Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Christina Garza said two deputies who chased the suspect opened fire after the man pointed a gun at them.
Neither deputy was hurt.
The incident began late Thursday with a report that four people had been shot at a home.
Investigators said authorities found two people were dead in the house.
The two injured victims were taken to a hospital.
Information about their conditions wasn’t immediately available.
Investigators said one survivor gave deputies a description of an SUV in which the gunman escaped.
Garza said deputies spotted the vehicle and gave chase.
The pursuit ended when the SUV crashed.
The deputies shot the suspect when he got out of the wrecked vehicle with a gun and threatened them, authorities said.
