AUSTIN (July 31, 2010)-Almost three-fourths of Texas school districts got the highest ratings possible from the state largely due to a measure that allows students to be credited for improvement even if they didn't pass.

The Texas Education Agency released its accountability ratings on Friday: the number of school districts rated as exemplary, the state's top category, more than doubled from last year.

Many of the improvements were made possible using the Texas Projection Measure, which factors in a projection of future performance on the state's standardized test.

The number of schools receiving the state's lowest rating, academically unacceptable, dropped to 30 districts from 87 last year.

You're sho right LN. Don't let 'em grow up to be rednecks either. What does the song say? Let 'em be doctors and lawyers and such...

If you can't feed them don't breed them.

Focused in Marlin, Yeah parents have to do some parenting and get involved with what their child is learning. Lots of parents give their kids more instruction than they receive at school. As a resident of Marlin, you should know that. Being that Marlin has some of the worst schools as far as the eye can see. You don't need a college degree to understand everything in life or in education. Why do you think so many people make the effort to purposely move into a city/neighborhood with PROVEN good schools and DEDICATED teachers who actually do their job and don't worry about being liked or about being cool with the kids. If a lot of these districts like Marlin would stop worrying about athletics 75% of the time and academics 25% of the time, progress might be made. Marlin needs to cease to exist.
