Get To Know Carlos!
Carlos began his career in journalism at Texas State University where he received a Bachelor of Art's degree in Mass Communication with an emphasis in Electronic Media as well as a minor in Kinesiology. At Texas State, Carlos was a contributor for KTSW News, the University's award-winning radio station. His senior year he became an anchor for Bobcat Update, a citywide newscast produced by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication.
Carlos interned with Univision Austin, the most-watched station in Austin regardless of language, in 2012. There he learned to use electronic news gathering software to organize, produce and write for newscasts. He became proficient in using editing resources as well as quickly picking up invaluable photography skills. In fact, Carlos would often go on assignment with reporters as their photographer. His drive and news judgement led him to become a supplemental journalist, going on assignment and having his stories featured on the station's top-rated 10 PM newscast.
In August 2012, his investigation on the myths surrounding HIV led to an on-air HIV test to help raise awareness about the disease, its treatments and the development of one of the most accurate screening processes that are currently offered.
Carlos is thrilled to call Waco his new home and is delighted to work with the brilliant team at News 10.
