Although not born in Texas, Ben found his way to this great state at the age of three and has always been fascinated with the weather extremes in the region.
Born in California, but raised in the Dallas area, Ben graduated from high school in Richardson, Texas. Although he was a Texas Longhorn fan, a visit to the University of Oklahoma and their meteorology department turned him to the Crimson and Cream very quickly.
Ben attended the University of Oklahoma for five years and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology with minors in Mathematics and Broadcast Journalism. During his time in Oklahoma, he interned at KXAS in Fort Worth and NewsOk.com in Oklahoma City. When not studying, attending OU football games, or working, you could probably find Ben chasing tornadoes on the rural roads of the southern plains. He has seen over a dozen tornadoes up close!
After Ben graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2009, he decided it was time to return to his home state. In September of 2009 he joined KAUZ-TV in Wichita Falls, TX as the Weekend Meteorologist. He loved every minute of covering the blizzards, severe storms, drought and extreme heat of Texoma. In September 2011, Ben left Wichita Falls and quickly joined the Doppler 10 Forecast team in October as Weekend and Noon Meteorologist.
Ben is excited to get involved in the Central Texas community and share his love of the ever changing weather. If you see him out in the community, don't be afraid to say hello!
Ben is a member of the American Meteorological Society and holds their Certification in Broadcast Meteorology. In his free time, you may find him hacking it up on the golf course, watching sports or eating popcorn at the movies.
