FORT HOOD (November 13, 2009)—Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the Army psychiatrist charged with killing 13 people in a Fort Hood shooting rampage made or accepted wire transfers with Pakistan, a Texas congressman said Friday.
Muslim extremists use that nation as a base from which to raise funds and plan terrorists attacks.
Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Austin, the ranking Republican member of the House Homeland Security Intelligence Subcommittee, said in a statement that he has confirmed through what he calls "independent sources" that Hasan also had communications with Pakistan.
In his statement, McCaul says: "This Pakistan connection just raises more red flags about this case and demonstrates why it's important for Congress to exercise its oversight authority."
Hasan is charged Thursday with 13 counts of premeditated murder in a military court, and Army investigators have said he could face additional charges.
His attorney, John Galligan, said prosecutors have yet to tell him whether they'll seek a death penalty, but reports indicate that the death penalty is under consideration.

I'm sorry but I believe it is 13 killed. Reports on the dead have been surfacing this entire area.
If anyone is willing to attack the military or government in this manner IS a terrorist; whether they had connections or not.
That is 14 killed, not 13
