KILLEEN (March 16, 2010)—Oncor released the first results Tuesday of side-by-side tests of mechanical and digital electric meters at a dozen residences in Killeen, and as with the results from Temple released Monday, there’s little or no difference in the readings.
At seven of the 12 residences, the readings were identical and at the other five, the variances were slight.
The results will be released weekly to the media and to the Public Utility Commission.
Oncor agreed to the side-by-side tests in the Temple-Killeen area in response to complaints from dozens of residents whose electric bills soared after the so-called smart meters were installed.
Oncor attributed the increases to the colder-than-usual weather earlier this year.
