TEMPLE (March 16, 2010)—Authorities planned to close Interstate 35 northbound at the North Loop 363 overpass in Temple for several hours Tuesday afternoon to clear debris from an accident.

Traffic will be rerouted onto the access road, which may result in delays, police said, and motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes.

The accident occurred at about 11:15 Tuesday and involved two large trucks that were carrying bridge beams.

Police said one truck ran into the rear of the other, causing the driver of the first truck to lose control of the rig, which struck a guardrail and a bridge abutment before coming to rest near a creek.

Neither driver was injured, but the accident backed up northbound traffic.

Police said cranes and heavy equipment will be used to remove the beam the truck was hauling, and then to pull the truck back onto the highway.

Ok, too many trucks on I-35 meant they should have planned better so there would have been six lane highways instead of what is there. I realize the trucks have to haul the goods. Wouldn't you like to avoid all of us? I want the trucks to use toll roads in Austin free of charge since not many will pay to use them. They should allow truckers to move around the big cities and that alone would save a lot of headache. Doubt they ever do it.

there are not too many trucks on the highway, we have to move products from place to place based on need to keep the economy going. they are not out there for a joy ride. the problem is too many people are in a hurry, some truck drivers and many many 4 wheeler drivers are in too much of a hurry.

It took me about 15 minutes extra to sit in the stop-and-go traffic on the loop beside Target. It was aggravitating, but not nearly as much as when I worked in Dallas and some days it would take me a half hour to go 3 blocks.
