If I'm traveling on the bike, and with 18 wheelers...I try to make sure I can see the driver in his mirrors. If I can't see him in the cab with the help of his mirrors, then I know he surely can't see me.This also goes for when I'm in an auto.Don't put yourself into an area, where you have no out.Truckers work long hours & always are getting jacked around by their dispatchers....I was sooo very glad when my son quit long-haul trucking,I now can rest better at night.....and yes,now he worries about his mom on her motorcycle :-)

Loud Pipes Saves Lives ! Please everyone, PLEASE watch out for the motorcycles! Riding season is open! And to the bikers, do not hang out in a truckers NO ZONE ! They cannot see you ! Get around them ASAP if passing.

A truck passed my friend on a little Honda 125 north of Austin one night and blew him right off the road into the ditch. It was late at night, storming and raining, ditches were very soft. Trucker saw what happened in his mirrors, stopped, checked him out (he was OK), apologized, loaded his bike into the trailer and took him to his house. Wasn't really anybodys fault, it just happened. Anyway the point is that most truckers do their best to help us out, they're not trying to run us over. I'm sure it was just an accident. Biker has to take some blame here too. If you get ran over from behind you're not paying attention. If you're riding beside him when you don't absolutely have to you've put yourself in a very bad spot on a motorcycle or in a cage.
