About The Jefferson Awards
The American Institute for Public Service was founded in 1972 with the goal of establishing national recognition for outstanding community volunteerism and public service. The institute’s “Jefferson Awards” honor individuals who make a difference in the community in which they live and work.
The Jefferson Awards seek to honor so many of the attributes that make the people of Central Texas special: Compassion, a unique spirit of generosity and a genuine desire to make our communities better places in which to live.
The Jefferson Award seeks to honor those ordinary people who do extraordinary things to help others without thought of credit or compensation.
The Jefferson Award for Public Service is considered to be the Nobel Prize of Volunteerism.
