JANUARY
Only the birds broke the silence of this beautiful and peaceful winter morning at the Lake Waco Wetlands after a rare Central Texas snowstorm.

These horses serve a reminder of a simpler time at the Heritage Farm along the Brazos River where they’re still used to work the fields. The farm is part of the Homestead Heritage community outside of Waco.

Union Pacific’s historic steam locomotive No. 844 stops at Rockdale’s equally historic 1906 International and Great Northern Depot. No. 844 is the last steam locomotive built for Union Pacific. With its tender, it weighs more than 900,000 pounds.
