Mr. Emerson has been a significant participant in the Belton/Temple Habitat For Humanity project since its inception in 1993. He was one of the founding contributors and has been the construction supervisor for all 16 homes built to date. In addition to his work in establishing this project, Emerson contributes tools, supplies and money. On several occasions he reached into his own pocket to buy lunch for the workers or make a quick trip pick up additional building supplies.
He volunteers many hours designing and planning the construction of each home to guarantee the homeowner will be satisfied with the new home. The letter nominating Mr. Emerson went to great length to point out the impact he continues to have on the entire community with his unselfish contribution of time, talent and treasure to the Habitat For Humanity project in Belton and Temple.
The letter goes on to point out how all of the volunteers who work with Mr. Emerson benefit from his peaceful, loving, patient, dedicated approach to the project and each of the other volunteers. Emerson makes sure each volunteer who works with him regardless of skill level, size, strength, gender, background or disability has an opportunity to contribute at a task with which they are comfortable and well suited.
Ron Emerson is also a volunteer for the Helping Hands Food Pantry of Belton. Three years ago, Emerson built a building to house a donated refrigeration unit. He can frequently be found making food runs in one of his trucks when supplies are low.
He is also Chairman of the Board of Deacons at First Baptist Church in Belton and serves is a key member of the sound committee for the annual God and Country Concert at the Bell County Expo Center.
