100-Year-Old Record High Temperatures Broken on Monday
Extremely warm temperatures were reached on Monday, and more record could be reached on Tuesday.

(January, 8 2007) – Extremely warm weather moved through the eastern portions of the United States on Monday. The following locations broke or tied long standing records (many of which are 100 years old):

Chicago reached 65 degrees (old record was 59 set in 1907)

Cleveland Ohio reached 65 degrees (old record was 63 set in 1907)

Erie Pennsylvania reached 65 degrees (old record was 93 set in 1907)

Toledo Ohio reached 66 degrees (old record was 61 set in 1907)

Dayton Ohio tied the record of 65 from back in 1907

Pittsburgh reached 66 degrees (old record was 63 back in 1930)

Syracuse New York reached 64 degrees (old record was 50 back in 1962)

Newark New York reached 63 degrees (old record was 62 back in 1946)

Lexington Kentucky reached 70 degrees (old record was 68 back in 1907)

Charleston West Virginia tied the record of 71 set back in 1937

Peoria Illinois reached 67 degrees (old record was 65 back in 1907)

Columbia Missouri reached 56 degrees (old record was 54 back in 1907)

Nashville Tennessee tied the record of 71 degrees set in 1888

Many locations across the eastern half of the country can once again expect record temperatures on Tuesday.
