(February, 18 2008) – A mobile hospital was set up outside a Kmart after a tornado injured about 30 people in Prattville, Alabama, yesterday. Two people were critically hurt.
The twister damaged about 200 homes and businesses. Other storms caused damage in northern Florida. No deaths are reported.
About 9,000 homes and businesses lost power in Prattville.
A tornado destroyed four homes in Escambia County, Florida, where about 60 other homes, businesses and storage buildings were damaged.
Freezing rain and snow fell across the southern two-thirds of Wisconsin, which is still weary from a major snowstorm that stranded hundreds of motorists and snarled travel for days. Numerous crashes were reported, and authorities urged people to stay off roads.
Heavy snow and slush closed Kansas City International Airport for almost six hours.
