(May 6, 2008)--About 3,500 acres of muck and grass is burning on the dry lake bed near Moore Haven, about 80 miles west of West Palm Beach, the Florida Division of Forestry says.

Authorities suspect arson in the fire.

Officials say one fire began late last Thursday and a second began at around the same time.

The two have since merged.

Firefighters say the fire is contained within Lake Okeechobee's dike

Westerly winds are moving the smoke into the West Palm Beach and the Fort Lauderdale area.

Hoping For a Little of "Dolly's" Rain!
From Brady Taylor:

Dolly has weakened to a Tropical Storm since moving inland in deep south Texas. For us here in Central Texas, today looks to bring the best rain chances associated with Dolly. Rain chances today will be best across our southern counties, with slightly less rain chances as you move further north.

After today we quickly return to the typical hot and dry Texas summer weather for at least the next seven days.

Keep up with the latest changes in the tropical regions here on KWTX.com, including the latest forecast track on our Tropical Weather page!
