(May 7, 2008)--Most of the western parts of Texas remain drought-stressed, while the north and east parts of the state have had some relief, Texas AgriLife Extension Service agents say.
"It's dry, dry, dry,” Floyd County agent J.D. Ragland says.
Officials in Somervell County say pasture conditions continued to improve after recent rains and warming temperatures.
Authorities in Pecos County say large range fires have been raging east of Fort Stockton with moderate winds and dry conditions.
Extension agent Jed Elrod says livestock and wildlife are stressed by the continued lack of moisture.
Agency officials say either too much rain or too little has hindered corn planting throughout Texas.
