(June 12, 2008)—Heavy rain caused widespread flooding Wednesday across southern and central areas of Mexico.

Mexican broadcaster, Televisa, showed footage of flooded streets in the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca, where people were struggling to cope with the heavy rainfall and floodwaters.

The Oaxaca Civil Protection agency said on Wednesday that two people have died as a result of the flooding, including a child.

The heavy rainfall began affecting the southern and central Mexico last Wednesday.
