(August 24, 2008)--The remnants of Tropical Storm Fay were soaking parts of the Southeast Sunday and emergency officials were watching out for potential flooding.
Several inches of rain were forecast Sunday across Alabama, Mississippi, eastern Louisiana and drifting northward into Tennessee.
Flood warnings and flash flood watches are in effect across much of the region, including New Orleans, where officials were monitoring the city's canals for rising water levels.
Fay, which was a tropical storm for eight days, made a record four landfalls in Florida, and left a trail of flooding and wind damage that killed at least 35 people in its path.
