(August, 28 2008) – The National Hurricane Center says a new tropical depression has formed in the Atlantic.
The depression formed early Thursday and has maximum sustained winds near 35 mph.
The depression is centered about 355 miles east-northeast of the northern Leeward Islands and is moving toward the west-northwest near 5 mph.
The National Hurricane Center is forecasting this new tropical depression to intensify into Tropical Storm Hanna, likely by late Thursday or early Friday.
The new tropical depression comes as Tropical Storm Gustav is churning through the Caribbean and threatening to hit the New Orleans area as a hurricane.
