(November 26, 2008)-- Rains overnight in Southern California led to flash flood warnings and heightened the concern about mudslides in areas ravaged by wildfires.

The heavy early morning showers led to an evacuation order in Orange County.

Fire officials say "nothing has gone down yet," but the rain has been hard enough that at least 1,500 people in Yorba Linda were told to leave their homes.

In northern Los Angeles County, rain was falling at nearly an inch per hour before easing just before dawn.

Authorities called for voluntary evacuations.

Officials in Santa Barbara County issued an evacuation order for as many as 2,200 homes.

A county spokesman says the fire "wiped out all vegetation and the soil is very unstable," especially on the steep slopes.

The rains have also forced the closure of several roads.

In San Diego, the flooding forced the closure of a portion of Interstate 5 for more than three hours, after at least two vehicles hydroplaned and crashed.
