(December 18, 2008)—The 100 residents of the small Bosque County town of Cranfills Gap who flew Saturday to Las Vegas as guests of the Las Vegas Convention and Tourism Authority ended up spending more time in Sin City than expected.

A rare snowstorm stranded the group Wednesday after the flight on which the residents were return to Texas was cancelled until Thursday.

"We thought we would be able to get back to the Gap and enjoy the sunshine," Cranfills Gap Laura Rose told the Casino City Times.

"(We) didn't think that we'd end up in the desert in the snow."

The Las Vegas tourism authority paid for the residents’ trip as part of marketing campaign to promote the city.

Visitors posed Wednesday for photos in snow piles around the famous "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign.

This is a really late comment because I was just goofing around searching different stuff on here. I was on this trip and that's my mom quoted in the artice. Just for the record, we didn't pose in snow piles. It didn't start snowing until we headed to the airport, about 2-3 hours after the picture. I know that doesn't matter but just had to throw that out there. Lol...

If they were hoping to get back to Texas and see sunshine, boy will they be disappointed! I haven't seen the sun since last Saturday.
