Portable Wall System Could Help Save Fargo From Flooding
A portable wall system used to shield U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan may help turn back floodwaters in Fargo, N.D.

FARGO, N.D. (March 24, 2009)--With the Red River threatening to spill over into hundreds of homes, Fargo, N.D. officials are considering using a portable wall system that was used to shield troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
One Fargo official says he thinks, "It's going to be a lifesaver."
Officials are also hoping to fill nearly 2 million sandbags by the end of the week to hold off the threat of flooding.
The hope is that the dike that protects Fargo can be raised to 42 feet.
The Red River's flood stage is 18 feet.
The National Weather Service says the rising river has reached more than 25 feet and could crest at another 15 feet higher.
Forty feet would be a new record.
