DALLAS (June 13, 2009)--Severe storms that battered the Dallas-Fort Worth area this week overwhelmed several sewer mains, popping manhole covers and dumping sewage, including an estimated 1.1 million-gallon spill in Fort Worth.
At least 13 overflows were reported in the Dallas enclave of Highland Park and officials in Garland said 133,000 gallons overflowed into Duck Creek.
Storms that moved in Wednesday night with 70 mph winds dumped more than 8 inches of rain in some spots before clearing out Thursday.
