(June 14, 2009)—Storms did some damage Saturday to the west and north of the region, but didn’t push far enough south to give Central Texas any relief from the searing heat.

There were reports of hail in the Panhandle and in Haskell, a telephone pole was blown down.

In Nocona, in Montague County, there were reports of roof damage to a number of structures.

The roof of one building was partially peeled off.

Large trees were blown down.

Damage was reported in downtown Nocona and for about two miles north along FM 103.

Meanwhile thousands of workers made major headway Saturday in restoring power to those still in the dark after heavy storms last week in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Only a few thousand customers were still without power Saturday night.

At the peak of the outages, about 260,000 were in the dark.

Oncor says it expects to have service completely restored Sunday.

Oncor records kept since 1996 show this week's damage is the third-worst the company has experienced.
