(June 30,2009)—The last day of the month was a wet one for residents of some parts of Central Texas as a band of thunderstorms and drenching showers moved through the region.

Heavy rain fell during the morning rush hour Tuesday in Hewitt, Woodway and Waco.

Widespread street flooding was reported and runoff caused flooding in some low-lying areas as well.

Police responded to a series of mostly-minor traffic accidents, in which the weather may have been a factor.

A 74-year-old motorcyclist suffered a compound fracture Tuesday after his bike hydroplaned on an Interstate 35 exit ramp in Bruceville-Eddy.

Frequent lightning is blamed for scattered power outages in the area.

A power outage forced the Scott & White clinic in Hewitt to close for the day Tuesday.

Scattered showers continued to produce mostly light rain Tuesday afternoon, but rain chances are expected to taper off as the day goes on.

What remains of the heaviest storms had moved off to the southeast.

Central Texas temperatures Tuesday afternoon were generally in the mid to upper 70s, in some places 30 degrees cooler than over the weekend.

The respite from the searing June heat was welcome, but forecasters are expecting afternoon highs Wednesday to rise back into the mid 90s.

Highs from Thursday through the weekend are expected to be close to 100 degrees, but there’s a slight chance of rain at the first of next week and another possible break in the heat.

Again,,, my home was flooded by all the runoff from the Hewitt area. The city of Waco,Woodway,Hewitt and Robinson are responsible for the damage to my home because of their vast amounts of concrete and steel. Farm lands have been covered and theese cities and they do not try to slow down or stop their drainage, thus causing flooding problems downstream. HELP ! Sorry Lon, your weather report says there was generous rainfall from Goldthwaite to Mexia but Mexia didn't receive generous rainfall. There is not even a puddle at my house ;-)
