Grassfires Scorch Thousands Of Acres In Texas
Fires have scorched thousands of acres in Texas, where the drought has created tinderbox conditions in some areas of the state.

DALLAS (July 20, 2009)--Firefighters were battling some grassfires throughout the state, including two large fires in West Texas.
The Texas Forest Service says bulldozers were on the scene of a 2,300-acre weekend fire in Haskell County.
Crews also battled a 1,000-acre fire in Shackleford County.
Smaller fires also were reported in Palo Pinto, Throckmorton, Angelina, San Jacinto, Tyler and Fayette counties.
