(July 30, 2009)--A line of strong thunderstorms rumbled through Central Texas early Thursday, producing heavy rain, gusty winds and lightning, downing trees, and causing scattered power outages that left more than a thousand residents temporarily in the dark.

Bosque, Coryell, Hamilton, Hill, McLennan and Navarro Counties were all under a severe thunderstorm watch early Thursday morning.

Watches and warnings for the region have all since expired.

More rain is possible Thursday afternoon, but showers will be more widely scattered than they were during the early morning hours.

Rain chances remain in the forecast through Friday night.

Power outages were reported early Thursday in parts of Waco, Gatesville and Bellmead.

At the height of the storm as many as 1,100 customers were without power.

By 8 a.m., Oncor said only about 275 customers were still in the dark.

Most of the power in Gatesville was restored before 8 a.m., according to police.

There were several reports of lightning strikes that caused small fires, but none was major.

Downed trees were reported on Riverview Road in Waco, Rogers Hill Road and Fort Graham Road near Elm Mott, and in other parts of McLennan County.

How long is "temporary?" My power went out at 6:00 am and is still out.
