BEAUMONT (August 19, 2009)—Crews were cleaning up Wednesday in Beaumont, a day after a rare tornado flipped vehicles in parking lots and damaged some stores.

No one was seriously hurt after the tornado struck Tuesday afternoon, but 10 people did suffer minor injuries.

Beaumont police say a man originally thought to have suffered cardiac arrest instead was found to have had a seizure and appeared to be OK.

The National Weather Service said the tornado, which struck in northwest Beaumont, had winds ranging from 100-110 mph.

Roof damage was reported at a Kohls Department Store and a Wal-Mart.

A pet store, a book store and parts of a nearby mall also were damaged.

Utilities checked for gas leaks and repaired power lines.
