LOS CABOS, Mexico (September 3, 2009)--Jimena appeared to be as much a rain storm Friday as a tropical force as it drenched Mexico's Baja California.

At last report, Jimena's winds were down to about 40 miles per hour.

However, the storm has unleashed flooding that's killed at least one man and stranded hundreds of people in remote fishing villages.

A state official says the 75-year-old man drowned when his house flooded.

Another person is missing.

Another official says some of the stranded people are in need of medical aid.

He's asking for government helicopters to help rescue the injured.

Forecasters are warning of more flash floods and large waves but they say those will subside as the slow-moving Jimena moves back out to the Pacific.

Meanwhile, in the Atlantic, what was once Tropical Storm Erika has been downgraded to a tropical depression.

It was last reported about 130 miles southeast of Puerto Rico.
