FORT WORTH (September 14, 2009)—River flood warnings remained in effect Monday for Navarro County.

One warning is for Chambers Creek near Rice, which was more than 3-and-a-half feet over its 24-foot flood stage Monday morning.

Moderate flooding was occurring and is expected to continue as the river crests near 28 feet by Monday evening before falling below flood stage Tuesday night.

The other warning is for the Trinity River at Trinidad, which goes into effect late Tuesday night.

That warning affects both Navarro and Henderson Counties.

The river was at 27.34 feet Monday, about 6 feet below its flood stage of 33 feet.

But it is expected to rise above flood stage by late Wednesday night and to have a prolonged crest near 37 feet into Friday morning, causing minor woodland and lowland flooding on the right bank, the Weather Service said.
