WACO (September 22, 2009)-Central Texas remained largely unaffected while North Texas took one on the chin as thunderstorms tore across Texas Monday night.

Winds gusting as high as 72 mph downed tree limbs and power lines in much of the region, including the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

A Cleburne police dispatcher reports gusting winds toppled a tractor-trailer rig in a parking lot; she says there were injuries, but none were life-threatening.

Oncor reports that around 16,000 customers in North Texas were without power during the night; about 5,000 customers were still without power Tuesday morning.

In northern Central Texas, amateur radio reports in Hill County indicate high winds brought down power lines and four-inch tree limbs in Itasca.

A Hill County dispatcher told News 10 the Sheriff's Office responded with barricades until the debris could be cleared.

Dispatchers in Bosque, Hamilton and Navarro Counties reported mainly rain accompanied by high winds and little, if any, damage.

The region was under a severe thunderstorm watch through most of the evening and flash flood watch through the night.
