Red Tide Bloom Found Off Texas Coast
A red tide bloom has been found that extends from the Texas coast into Mexico.

AUSTIN (October 28, 2009)--State monitoring confirms a stretch of red tide bloom that extends from southern Mustang Island into Mexico, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department says.
The agency said fish kills Tuesday were seen inside Mansfield Channel and Brazos-Santiago Pass, with the dead fish extending out to approximately 1 mile offshore.
TPWD said it appeared that fish were being pushed onto the beaches south of the passes.
Biologists found two areas of suspected bloom, at the mouth of the Corpus Christi Inner Harbor and in the Vinson Slough area of Aransas Bay.
Red tide cell concentrations were high Tuesday around the South Padre Island area.
Red tide is a toxic algae bloom can cause temporary breathing trouble, burning eyes and skin irritation in humans.
