CHEYENNE, Wyo. (October 29, 2009)—The Wyoming State Patrol had to close down a stretch of Interstate 80 between Cheyenne and Laramie because of the massive early season snowstorm that’s hammering the West.
That particular stretch of the highway is prone to closures during severe snowstorms because of the wind, which combines with snow to create hazardous conditions.
Because of the I-80 closure, Colorado officials closed down Interstate 25 from Wellington, Colo. to the Wyoming border and said it will remain closed until the Wyoming interstate is reopened.
