(November 17, 2009)—Some rivers in western Washington State were approaching flood levels Tuesday and flood watches were in effect in some counties.
A powerful cold front produced strong winds and rains of 3 to 5 inches in the western part of the state.
In higher elevations in the Cascades, more than 6 inches of snow was expected.
Heavy rain caused a landslide that jolted residents out of bed early Monday in Gig Harbor, Wash.
