Another Storm System Pushes Into Northern California

SAN FRANCISCO (December 3, 2012)--A new storm system was making its way through already-drenched Northern California, Tuesday prompting a flood watch for parts of the region.

The National Weather Service said rain began falling along the coast at around 5 a.m. Tuesday and reached inland areas in the afternoon.

Coastal mountains could receive as much as 6 inches of precipitation before the storm moves out on Wednesday.

Other areas may only get an inch or so.

Forecasters say they are not expecting anything as severe as the series of storms that rocked the region over a five-day period that ended on Sunday.

Still, parts of far Northern California and southern Oregon are under a flood watch in part because of already-swollen waterways and saturated ground.
