Rusty Garrett here with the weekend outlook: Saturday will be the milder of the two days. Sun and clouds will be the rule with early weekend highs in the mid 80s. Back to the low to mid 90s on Sunday!
SAN FRANCISCO (December 13, 2012)--Environmental advocates in Northern California plan to take photographs of some of the highest tides of the year to illustrate what climate change could do decades from now.
The so-called king tides are expected to peak during the next several days and could surge more than 9 feet in some areas.
The phenomenon is caused by a unique alignment of the sun, moon and Earth.
The tides have already produced some minor flooding in low-lying areas.
The goal of the King Tides Initiative is to provide preview what rising sea levels could bring in 2070.
