TEMPLE (January 1, 2013)—Temple is again opening warming centers in response to a forecast that calls for potentially dangerous cold.
Temperatures will drop into the upper 20s overnight and wind chill readings could be as low as 19 Wednesday morning.
Overnight lows will remain in the 20s or 30s through the weekend.
The centers offer a temporary warming place for the homeless and other distressed residents, the city said.
A center for men is at Victory Ministries at 305 South 18th St. and a center for men, women and children is at Humble House at 613 South 7th St.
The centers will be open from 5 p.m. to 9 a.m. from Tuesday until Jan. 6.
Should demand exceed capacity, additional resources are available.
Information on the centers can be obtained by calling 211.
