LUCKNOW, India (January 3, 2013)—More than 100 people have died from historically cold temperatures in the northern part of India, police said.
At least 23 people have died in the past 24 hours and most were the poor, whose bodies were found on sidewalks and in parks.
Temperatures in Uttar Pradesh state have been 7 to 18 degrees below normal.
Temperatures in New Delhi hit a high of just below 50 degrees on Wednesday.
