Commuter Jet Slides Of Runway During Icy Storm

MISSOULA, Mont. (March 4, 2014) A SkyWest Airlines commuter jet headed for Salt Lake City slid off the main runway Tuesday morning at Missoula International Airport in Montana.

Freezing rain and icy roads were reported in the area at the time.

SkyWest spokeswoman Marissa Snow says the nose gear of the Canadair regional jet went off the side of the runway as the plane was taxiing out just after 8:30 a.m.

No one on Delta Connection Flight 4600 was injured.

Snow said the 44 passengers and three crew members were bused back to the airport terminal.

The airline was trying to reschedule the passengers on other flights.

Airport officials said the incident temporarily closed the main runway.

The National Weather Service had issued a winter weather advisory for freezing rain and slick roads Tuesday morning.
