Rusty Garrett here with the weekend outlook: Saturday will be the milder of the two days. Sun and clouds will be the rule with early weekend highs in the mid 80s. Back to the low to mid 90s on Sunday!
WHITE RIVER LAKE (July 24, 2013)—Two years after the state’s historic 2011 drought, the 109 lakes that supply the majority of the state's water were 64 percent full Wednesday, the lowest level for this time of year since 1990.
Too little rain has fallen since 2011, Texas' driest year ever, to refill the lakes.
Levels are 10 percent lower than last July and 20 percent below normal for this time of year.
Evaporation this summer could leave lake levels at historic lows and state officials say the limited rainfall means water suppliers should extend watering restrictions for months.
Thirteen small suppliers could be out of water in 45 days.
