CLOVIS, N.M. (February 26, 2013)--An 81-year-old Clovis, N.M., man died after slipping while shoveling snow in his driveway.
Clovis police Capt. Patrick Whitney said the man died Monday after he fell on ice, hitting the back of his head.
The man's name was not released.
The death came Monday during a blizzard that plowed through the South Plains in what meteorologists called the worst the area had seen in a decade.
The storm packing 50-mile-per-hour wind gusts left a wake of power outages and schools closings across eastern New Mexico and West Texas.
