Fire Danger High In Some Central Texas Counties

Print

(January 28, 2013)—The National Weather Service has issued a fire weather watch from Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday evening that includes Mills and Hamilton Counties in Central Texas.

Strong west winds are expected by midday Tuesday behind an approaching dry line and gusts of more than 30 miles per hour are possible into the evening hours.

At the same time the humidity is expected to drop to around 20 percent as temperatures rise into the upper 70s.

Thunderstorms earlier in the day could produce lightning, which can strike dry vegetation, causing it to smolder until gusty winds fan the embers into flames.
