BRISBANE, Australia (January 29, 2013)--Thousands of Australians were huddling in shelters Tuesday as torrential rains flood cities and towns in the northeast.
At least four people have been killed and some 1,000 have been evacuated by helicopter.
Floodwaters are expected to peak in most of the worst hit areas later Tuesday.
