WEATHERFORD (July 8, 2014) Parker County peach growers are harvesting their best crop in recent years, which will be something to celebrate during the 30th annual Parker County Peach Festival, which is expected to draw more than 30,000 people on Saturday to downtown Weatherford.
The festival includes music, children's activities, arts and crafts, and of course, peaches.
"It looks like a bumper crop. We're thrilled,” said Tammy Gazzola, president of the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce, which organizes the event.
Late freezes, hail, extreme heat and drought have all taken a toll on the crop in recent years.
In the past organizers have even had to import peaches from other parts of the state, but that won’t be the case this year.
