SAN ANTONIO (July 18, 2014) Storms in parts of Texas flooded roads, left campers stranded, and forced the evacuation of a hotel.
San Antonio firefighters responded early Friday to a Holiday Inn where lightning blew a hole in the roof.
About 50 guests were safely evacuated and the fire was extinguished.
Austin-Travis County EMS reported that 13 campers on an island in the Colorado River were evacuated Friday because of concerns their canoes and kayaks could not safely navigate the fast-moving water.
A helicopter was used to ferry the men to land.
Forecasters say the Austin and San Antonio areas have received nearly 3 inches of rain since Thursday night, causing street flooding.
Storms earlier Thursday swamped some North Texas roads.
