WACO (October 1, 2012)—A blowout in a force-main, heavy weekend rainfall and a valve failure during repairs caused the discharge of at least 100,000 gallons of wastewater at 10400 U.S. Highway 84 near the Cotton Belt Walking Trail, the City of Waco said Monday.
The discharge was originally caused by blowout of a previous repair on the main, which was contained, but the heavy rain the failure of a valve during repairs Monday caused an additional discharge, the city said.
Crews were working Monday afternoon to contain, disinfect and stop the discharge, the city said.
